Email Validation for New Users in Symbol Security

To enhance communication reliability, Symbol Security immediately validates the deliverability of new users' email addresses upon addition.

Symbol Security has introduced a new feature to validate whether newly added users can receive emails. This immediate validation process helps ensure that critical security notifications and simulations reach their intended recipients. Users who fail the validation check will be marked as "Undeliverable" in the system.

Why Email Validation Matters

Ensuring that users have valid, accessible email addresses helps maintain effective communication for:

  • Security alerts

  • Policy updates

  • Simulation Emails

  • Training Assignments
  • Other critical system messages

How It Works

When a new user is added to the roster through any of the following methods, Symbol Security automatically checks if their email is deliverable:

  • CSV Upload

  • Entra ID Sync

  • API Integration

  • Manual Entry

The validation occurs almost instantly, and if the email cannot receive messages, the user is flagged as "Undeliverable" with an alert icon "⚠️" next to the name.

Common Reasons for "Undeliverable" Status

  • Mailbox not found (invalid or non-existent email)

  • Inbox full (no available storage to receive messages)

  • Domain issues (incorrect domain or DNS misconfiguration)

  • Temporary delivery failures (server issues, greylisting, etc.)

Once a user is marked as "Undeliverable," there is no automated way to revalidate their email address at this time. However,  we are working on adding a revalidation feature for existing users in a future update. Stay tuned for enhancements!
