How to Whitelist Symbol Security URLs Using Safe Links in Microsoft Defender.

By following these steps, you can successfully whitelist Symbol Security URLs in Microsoft Defender for Office 365 using the Safe Links feature.

Microsoft Defender for Office 365 provides advanced threat protection features, including Safe Links, which helps protect users from malicious URLs in emails and documents. However, there may be legitimate URLs, such as those from Symbol Security, that you want to whitelist to ensure they are not blocked. This article provides step-by-step instructions on how to whitelist Symbol Security URLs using the Safe Links feature.

Follow these steps to Whitelist Symbol Security URLs:

1) Access the Microsoft Security Portal

  • Log in to the Microsoft Security portal at https://security.microsoft.com.
  • On the left navigation pane, under Email & collaboration, select Policies & rules.
  • Select Threat policies.
  • In the Policies section, click on Safe Links.

2) Create a New Safe Links Policy

  • On the Safe Links page, select ➕ Create to start the new Safe Links policy wizard.
  • Add a Name and Description for your policy. Then click on the Next button.
  • On the Users and domains page, identify the internal recipients to which the policy applies. We recommend adding all users, groups, and domains to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • When you're finished on the Users and domains page, select Next.

3) Configure URL & Click Protection Settings

  • On the URL & click protection settings page, ensure all settings are enabled.
  • Under the Email settings section, click on the Manage (nn) URLs link.
  • Click on the Add URLs link to add to the following Symbol Security URLs that would otherwise be blocked by Safe Links:
    • *.customerrequestdepartment.com/*
    • *.benefitsenrollmentcenter.com/*
    • *.invoicefulfillment.com/*
    • *.yoursupportrequest.com/*
    • *.recordsconfirmation.com/*
    • *.responseconfirmation.com/*
    • *.customerassistance.co/*

    • *.customerassistance.email/*

    • *.getcybertraining.com/*
    • *.symbolsecurity.com/*
  • Verify the syntax of the URLs to ensure they are correctly formatted and click on Save.
  • Once you have added the URLs, ensure you click on the checkboxes next to each domain and click on Done.
  • If you want to apply this policy to Teams or other Microsoft apps, enable the checkboxes under each section.
  • From the Click protection settings, ensure you enable the option to Let users click through to the original URL.
  • Once you have finished, click on Next.

4) Configure Notifications

On the Notification page, select one of the following values for How would you like to notify your users?:

  • Use the default notification text.

  • Create custom notification text.

Once you have finished, click on Next.

5) Review and Submit the Policy

On the Review page, review your settings. You can select Edit in each section to modify the settings if needed. Alternatively, you can select Back or the specific page in the wizard to make changes.

When you're finished reviewing, click on Submit.

6) Confirm Policy Creation

From the Confirmation page, you'll see a message entitled: "New Safe Links policy created". From here you can view the recent policy created and all your policies. As well as some documentation articles related to Safe Links policies. Click on Done to finish the process.

Once your policy has been created, you'll be redirected to the Safe Links policies list. From there you can access your Safe Links policies, edit or delete them.
